Decibullz Custom Molded Percussive Shooting Filter Earplugs Review: Range-Day Hearing Protection That Actually Fits

I've gone through more foam earplugs than I can count, and they all have the same problem: either I can't hear my shooting partner, or they don't block enough of the muzzle blast. Decibullz's Percussive Shooting Filter Earplugs solve that by combining a custom heat-moldable body with an acoustic filter, and I've been testing a pair for the last several range sessions.

Moldable Fit in Under 5 Minutes

The kit comes with thermoplastic tips you drop in hot water, then press into your own ear canal while they're soft. Once they cool, you've got a permanent custom mold. It sounds fussy but it genuinely took me about five minutes start to finish, and the fit has been rock solid every session since.

How the Percussive Filter Performs

The whole point of a percussive filter is that it dampens the sharp, damaging crack of a gunshot while still letting normal conversation and range commands through. I noticed this immediately during a duck hunting trip with a group — I could hear guides calling out shot windows clearly, but the actual shots were noticeably softened.

Pros

Pros: custom-molded fit that stays put, filters percussive blasts while keeping speech audible, compact and easy to carry in a range bag, reusable long term.

Cons

Cons: molding process requires boiling water and a few minutes of patience, not a substitute for full earmuffs on high-volume indoor ranges.

At $69.99, this is a one-time investment I don't mind making for hearing I actually want to keep. If you spend a lot of time at the range or in the field, check out the current deal on Decibullz Percussive Shooting Filter Earplugs here.
