Period underwear promises a lot and rarely delivers all of it. Lilova's Jade Cotton Brief came closer than most brands I've tried.
The cotton is soft and breathable rather than the thick, plasticky feel some leakproof brands have. It sits at a mid-rise, and the gusset is contoured well enough that it doesn't bunch during the day.
Lilova markets these as non-toxic (no PFAS treatments, which some leakproof fabrics rely on), and I didn't notice any chemical smell or irritation. Absorbency held up through a moderate-to-heavy flow day without any breakthrough.
Pros: Soft breathable cotton, non-toxic construction, reliable leak protection, comfortable mid-rise fit.
Cons: Priced around $34 (varies with exchange rate) for a single pair, needs a proper cold-rinse care routine to maintain absorbency.
