How a preventable death in the Caribbean led to a mission to equip the world's protectors with the right tools The night MED-TAC International was born, I was a third-year medical student in the Caribbean, kneeling in the back of an under-equipped ambulance, watching a man bleed to death with my hands on his leg. I used my hands. He kept bleeding. We lost him about ninety minutes later in the hospital — not because his injuries were unsurvivable, but because he spent eight minutes bleeding in that ambulance without the equipment that should have been there.
